Planning & Economic Development

NWRA plays a significant role in planning and economic development, acting as a key intermediary between national policies and local implementation to ensure that regional development is strategic, coordinated, and sustainable.

The Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) supports strategic planning and sustainable development in the Region. Using an evidence based approach, the NWRA advocates for the development of the Northern and Western Region of Ireland.

Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy 2020-2032 (RSES)

The RSES provides a high-level Spatial and Economic Development Framework for the Northern and Western Region that supports the implementation of the National Planning Framework (NPF) and the relevant economic policies and objectives of Government. It provides a  medium to long term strategy to deliver the transformational change that is necessary to achieve the objectives of the Assembly, its Local Authorities, and a variety of other actors who are involved in fostering a vibrant more prosperous region.

Regional Development Monitor (RDM)

The Regional Development Monitor (RDM) is a collaborative project between the three Regional Assemblies in Ireland, the All-Island Research Observatory (AIRO) at Maynooth University and spatial infrastructure partners the Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI) via the GeoHive platform. https://rdm.geohive.ie/
