ERDF Scheme:
This operation supports the delivery of fully funded home energy upgrades in the programme area of the Northern & Western Region, the operation focuses on households in or at risk of energy poverty who achieve a minimum improvement of energy efficiency.
The Beneficiary, Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland, will use public procurement to deliver the supported action at scale within the programme area, using a panel of works contractors and professional services firms.
Fully funded energy upgrades are limited to properties and households that meet defined eligibility criteria and ERDF support for these upgrades is limited to upgrades that achieve at least a medium-depth level renovation.
ERDF resources will be focused on “Deep Heat Renovations” to include attic insulation, cavity insulation, external and internal wall insulation and where appropriate, new non-carbon heating systems, replacement windows, draught proofing, lagging jackets and energy efficient lighting.
The exact measures will be based on a technical assessment of each property. Resource efficient building materials and recycling building materials will be encouraged where feasible and included in the tender process for contractors undertaken by the Beneficiary.
Beneficiary: Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland
Budget: 65M Euro
Selection of eligible properties will be prioritised based firstly on applications received prior to 14th February 2022 and then by worst performing Building Energy Rating (BER) of E, F and G homes built before 1993 with an objective to concentrate resources on the properties where the greatest impact can be achieved. Pre-works and post-works Building Energy Rating certificates (BERs) will be required for all homes renovated in order to ensure the reliability and accuracy of indicator data.
Applicant and property eligibility to be funded under the scheme will be determined by the SEAI at the application evaluation stage.
Households may apply for these fully funded energy upgrades directly through the Beneficiary, SEAI at the link below.
