European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

The Northern and Western Regional Assembly is the Managing Authority for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in our Region.

ERDF Objectives

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is designed to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion in the European Union.

It aims to do this by correcting imbalances between regions enabling investments in a smarter, greener, more connected and more social Europe that is closer to its citizens. The Northern and Western Regional Assembly is the Managing Authority for The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in our Region.

ERDF Co-funded

Northern and Western Regional Programme 2021-2027

Our current ERDF Programme is the Northern and Western Regional Programme 2021-2027, which is a €217m investment strategy for our region co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.

The Programme is one of two ERDF Programmes which set out Ireland’s investment strategy for €853 million, of which €396 million is financed by the EU. The ERDF supports Irish regions in promoting economic, social and territorial cohesion in line with key EU priorities.
