Cathaoirleach’s Statement on the passing of the late Cllr. John Naughten
Statement by Councillor Jarlath Munnelly, Cathaoirleach of the NWRA.
“It is with deep sadness that we heard of the tragic death of Councillor John Naughten on Friday 4th October.
Councillor Naughten joined the Assembly in 2019 and served as our Cathaoirleach for 2023-2024. He was a true gentleman, known for his strong political leadership in championing investment in the northern and western region. His kindness, approachability, and dedication will be deeply missed by both the elected members and the executive of the Northern and Western Regional Assembly.
Cllr John Naughten will be reposing on Wednesday from 5 to 8 o’clock in Drum Parish Hall (A one way system will be in place in Summerhill) with Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday at 11 o’clock in St. Brigid’s Church, Drum, followed by burial in Drum Cemetery”.
