The Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA), together with Monaghan County Council are involved in an EU funded URBACT project entitled the Wood Footprint Project.
There are 10 EU Partners participating in this project from 8 EU Countries. The Irish Partner is the NWRA, but the focus of the project is in County Monaghan where the greatest cluster of furniture manufacturers is to be found in Ireland.
The aim of the project is to bring together key stakeholders in the wood and furniture industry in County Monaghan, and through sharing ideas, experiences and best practices among the project partners; develop a Local Action Plan to revitalise and renew the furniture industry. It will also support and enhance economic development within the wider local economy.
The Local Action Plan identifies a number of key actions that are geared towards providing local solutions to local problems. A hard copy of the Draft Monaghan Local Action Plan is available for inspection at Offices of Monaghan County Council, The Glen, Monaghan.
